Nothing beats the feeling of driving a brand new vehicle out of the Chrysler dealership, we know. That’s why we compiled this easy to follow guide for detailing your vehicle, so you can hang on to that sense of joy for even longer.

Exterior

Clean the Body

Perhaps the most obvious step, but undoubtedly one of the most important, you should kick off your cleaning process by washing the body of your car. Make sure you’re hitting the trim, the lights, and any additional features you might have. You can use a dedicated car cleaner, or a bucket of warm water and dish soap.

Wash the Wheels

Although wheels are arguably the dirtiest part of any car, too many people overlook the importance of washing them. Spray a wheel cleaner onto the rubber, allowing time for it to set. Use a bristle brush to scrub the dirt away and rinse. Your rims can be cleaned with a metal cleaner or glass polish.

Shine the Windows

A good way to finish the exterior and begin the interior is to clean your windows, inside and out. Coating the entire surface in glass cleaner and wiping side-to-side can help prevent streaking on the glass. Make sure to roll the window down slightly to clean the edges.

Interior

Start at the Top

You should begin your interior cleaning process by wiping down your dashboard, steering wheel, and center console. You can use a cleaning putty to get into hard to reach areas, like cupholders. Starting this way means if any dust or debris falls to the floor, you won’t have to redo areas you’ve already finished.

Scrub the Seats

Once you’ve gotten all the hard surfaces shined, it’s time to move to the seats. Leather seats can be easily cleaned with a small towel and spray cleaner. For cloth seats, you can use a handheld soft-bristle brush in a circular pattern to bring any dust to the surface, then go over them with a vacuum.

Finish with the Floors

Now that everything up top is looking fresh, it’s time to finish the job. Remove your floor mats and give them a good shake outside to get rid of any large debris. If you want to wash them with water and soap, make sure to allow plenty of drying time before placing them back in your car. Vacuum out the interior carpet, making sure to get the often overlooked areas, like underneath the seats.
