As the temperatures drop and the days get shorter, the Christmas spirit comes alive in Michigan. From dazzling light displays to festive markets, there is no shortage of holiday festivities in and near Redford this year. Here is a small look into some of the wonderful events happening in the area. Gather your family and friends and enjoy the magic of the holiday season.

Olde Fashioned Holiday Celebration

The township’s holiday celebration kicks off at 15145 Beech Daly on December 5th. The tree lighting ceremony will begin at 6:00 PM, and there will be horse-drawn carriage rides, ice sculpting demonstrations, and local vendors with handmade gifts for friends and family. Smores and hot chocolate will be offered, as well as opportunities to take pictures with Santa.

Wayne County Lightfest

Just a short drive away, the Wayne County Lightfest is the Midwest’s longest drive-thru light display, running the entire month of December. The light show will be closed on Monday and Tuesday evenings except Dec 23rd and 24th. Stretching four miles along Hines Drive, this event features over 50 animated displays and 100,000 lights. Pack some hot cocoa and play all the holiday favorites while you enjoy the winter wonderland from the warmth of your car.

Downtown Detroit Holiday Markets

Take a trip to downtown Detroit on Cadillac Square during December and visit the holiday markets featuring local artists selling handmade gifts, including ornaments and holiday-themed treats. Make sure to stop by if you still need to pick up some gifts for family and friends. Close by, Campus Martius Park will have ice skating and its great majestic tree, which makes a perfect spot to sightsee, take photos, and enjoy some warm drinks.

Night of Lights at Greenmead Historical Park

The Night of Lights at Greenmead Historical Park in Livonia, MI offers a nostalgic experience and charming events in a historical setting. The historical buildings are decorated like a 19th-century holiday village, complete with live music, carolers, and visits from Santa Claus. Mark your calendar for the following December dates: 6-7th, 13-15th, and 20-22nd.

Whether you are looking to try something new or the warmth of nostalgia, there is an event for everyone to enjoy. While you’re partaking in the festivities, make sure to stop by and visit us at Snethkamp CDJR to schedule a test drive and make your holiday dreams complete with a new ride.
